In May 2008 the Alliance called for the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission to shift the primary focus of health care and service delivery from acute care towards a greater emphasis on health prevention and promotion. Further, our submission noted that the health system must be reoriented so that it is driven by individual consumers and the communities in which they live.
Our submission addressed both the Commission’s Terms of Reference and the Draft Principles for Australia’s Health System. We also provided a number of recommendations for the new Health Care Agreements.
