Our work

We work across a broad range of LGBTI health areas including

ageing,  sexual health,  drugs and alcohol,  mental health,  violence and homophobia,  health and wellbeing of people living with HIV/AIDS,  relationship recognition,  research,  the link between health and human rights

We work to improve LGBTI health in these - and other - areas in different ways, including

  • developing evidence-based policy papers and position statements through national working groups and networks
  • using these to lobby federal politicians and other decision-makers, and to advocate for changes in public health policy and greater resources for LGBTI health
  • helping members of the Alliance to share resources and implement programs and activities in their communities that will improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTI people

  • National Women's Health Policy

The Alliance made a submission in response to this document. A second phase of consultation commences on 30 September with a month of community forums. The initial discussion paper failed to address the specific situations of same-sex attracted women and sex and gender diverse people so these events will be an opportunity to raise these issues.
